My Mistakes Are My Life

“Francois Rabelais. He was a poet. And his last words were 'I go to seek a Great Perhaps.' That's why I'm going. So I don't have to wait until I die to start seeking a Great Perhaps.”

There's No Secrets This Year

I deserve a pay raise. A really, really good pay raise. And now I will tell you why

  • Over 900 people showed up to the midnight Paranormal Activity 3
  • We had two people in concessions, Al and myself
  • During this whole thing I had to train someone on their first day of their first job
  • I did this while going on 4 hours of sleep from the previous night
  • I got off work at 2
  • Hour and a half of nonstop crowds. Half of those people didn’t get to their theater until half an hour into the movie just so they could have food. What is wrong with people?
  • People are fucking bitches
  • Dale agrees with me. I should get a pay raise. Unfortunately, he is not the manager in charge of that
  • We were also under stocked, in addition to being incredibly understaffed
  • They expected this, yet we still didn’t have enough people, therefore I have no problem bitching about this situation
  • While Al and I were taking the trash out we were stampeded by people coming out of at least 6 theaters, maybe more. You know that scene in Lion King with the stampede? It was exactly like that
  • I got my break at 8:30, two and a half hours into my 8 hour shift
  • I would like to reiterate the fact that I was training someone in the midst of all of this

The good parts of my 8 hour shift:

  • I love Al. He’s quirky, like me, so we get along well
  • The girl I was training was a fast learner and really nice
  • Dale was amusing, and complimented my concession skills a lot
  • Talking about Jersey Shore with Dale and Al was fun
  • Talking about Harry Potter and Wicked with Al was nice
  • Training Ashley was actually kind of fun, until we got busy
  • I didn’t have to clean the popper or do dishes
  • I didn’t spill anything or fall
  • I succeeded in not eating too much popcorn
  • I didn’t have to make nachos
  • Talking to Dale about possible late night waffle house runs in the future was nice
  • Dale kept telling new girl Ashley that I’m the smartest person there and that he really trusts me, which was a nice and much needed ego boost
  • Dale also seemed very concerned with my obvious exhaustion and growing frustration with people, so he gave me a red bull!

My night was shit, but it wasn’t that bad the whole time. I’m trying this new approach of posting positive things to go along with my negative things, to make my blog less depressing…No one will read this anyways. First off because it’s almost three in the morning and only crazy people are awake, and secondly because it’s so long. I don’t blame you for not reading it.
